The Power of the Internet is Sex

by Traverse Legal, reviewed by Enrico Schaefer - June 28, 2007 - Albion College, Chapter 1, Growing Up

THE PAST…It still makes me angry. Where was the Internet back when I was sixteen? I was lucky to cop a peek at my buddy Hans’ playboy magazine once or twice year. How unfair is that? How is a young man supposed to figure out the mystery of girls with no experience, no information and a 12-year-old face trapped in a 12-year-old body of a 16-Year-old boy.

I wonder how things might have been different If I were born twenty years later, during the heyday of the internet. My God. Forget the Internet. Look what’s going on on TV right now. Sex, sexiness and skin are everywhere. One thing is for damn sure. They didn’t have low-cut jeans, skimpy bikinis and MTV when I was a kid. Isn’t it amazing how pervasive sex is in today’s world compared to thirty years ago, and thirty years before that? Is it really such a bad thing? Did we really want to send our boys to war without even showing them how to load their guns?

I wonder if kids today are so overwhelmed by the opposite sex than I was as a kid. I avoided it because it wasn’t part of my world.

But now I was living with Paul D. We were providing alcohol and the girls, it seemed, were hitting on me.
