EITHER GO TO LAW SCHOOL OR GET A JOB

by Traverse Legal, reviewed by Enrico Schaefer - June 28, 2007 - Albion College, Chapter 1

THE PAST…I’ll never forget my dad telling me those words. Here I was in my third senior semester at Albion College and my counselor had flagged me down in the hall. He told me that I had to take the sophomore writing test on Tuesday or I would not be able to graduate at the end of the semester.

After our short debate, my counselor took me to his office and showed me my records. He was right. I was graduating in ten weeks. Somehow, I had calculated wrong. I did not have a full second senior year. I had enough credits to graduate in my third senior semester.

Of course, I did what any young person would do in that situation. I called my dad. I could tell by the sound in his voice that he was excited to hear that he had been spared a semester of tuition at Albion. I bristled at the harsh reality of the words he spoke. "Either take the LSAT (the law school admissions test), go to graduate school or get a job."

The choice was obvious. There was no fucking way I was getting a job.
