Bring Your Child To The Voting Booth: This is America!

I had the great joy to wake up at 5:45, get my son Echo ready for school one hour early and take him with me to the polling station at 6:40 to get in line to vote. I don't know who got more out of the experience, Echo or me.  Because we still use paper ballots, it was easy for him to sit with me and go through each vote together. I explained each vote as we moved down the ballot.  We had been discussing the issues and candidates with him for weeks. I am certain it felt to him like he had voted himself.

He was beaming the rest of the morning and very excited when he
got out of the car for school, wearing his "I voted"
sticker proudly. I could tell he was anxious to tell all his friends he
went to vote with his dad this morning. He felt like something special had happened. Indeed it had.

On this election day, let's not forget the amazing thing that is our "democracy" irrespective of who wins. Both candidates appear poised to move our country back into the hands of the people, and away from the special interests and mega-corporations which currently run our country. We appear to be headed in a better direction no matter who wins.  There is no greater feeling of pride than that which is instilled by voting.  Share it with your children if you can.  And GO VOTE!
